[Monday Shadow Challenge #4] Royal blue for a king !

I almost didn't participate in the Monday Shadow Challenge this week. This challenge makes you think further than your usual makeup techniques and colors and if you really get involved you might sometimes discover that some colors you don't like actually suit your skintone and your eyecolor.

That's what happened to me. I've been in Paris for a few days now, seeking a new job and in extenso a new life. I've taken just what I needed with me but I've managed to take an eyeshadow palette that contains royal blue, this week's color.
I don't like royal blue. Actually I don't like blue in general but some precise shades like navy, petroleum blue or turquoise. Well, after this makeup, I've understood that royal blue suits my rather cool skintone and that I like it even more when it's combined to colors I like !

I seem to be using less and less makeup week after week ! After hydrating my face with my L'Occitane Ultra Rich Shea Butter facecream, I took some brushes and just tried to feel my way into the makeup.
I used the Brights palette from Vivien Kondor and I used a Nude Max & More lipsick that's part of a lipstick & lipliner set.
As for the brushes I used a BH Cosmetics lipbrush and eyeliner brush as well as an EcoTools double brush (blender & eyeshadow). That's about all the makeup and accessories I used for this look !

I didn't know what to do or even how to begin so I just took the lightest color of the palette, a shimmery lilac and I applied it on the whole of my eyelid up to the eyebrow.

Then, it crossed my mind that I could draw several lines of different colors on my upper eyelid and on the bottom lashline. I started with the most important color : royal blue, that I applied under my eyes. That's a safe choice and I didn't really get out of my comfort zone for this makeup look.
I drew a thick royal blue line under my bottom lashline and a second one with the duochrome purplish blue going from the center of the lashline to the outer corner of my eye. With this very color I began to draw the wing of an eyeliner and that was it for this color.

For the actual classic eyeliner look I used the darkest purple color of the palette and in the end I applied bright pink eyeshadow in the bottom lining.

I've chosen to not wear any mascara and I'm thinking that the look doesn't seem incomplete without it. I vaguely redefined my eyebrows with the dark purple eyeshadow and it almost seems natural !

I used a Max & More Nude lipstick from Action that is part of a €0.89 set containing a lipstick and a lipliner. I think the color is amazing because it matches cool-toned makeup looks and that's precisely what I like the most. It is semi-matte and I like how I applied some shimmery lilac eyeshadow in the center as a highlighter : the result is kind of blurred and it contrasts with how precise the eyemakeup is.

Then I lightly applied some of the duochrome purplish/blue just above my upper lip, in Cupid's bow.

What do you think of this week's makeup look ?
